Coco – 3 year old female French Bulldog

Coco is a 3 year old female French Bulldog. Coco came into us as her owner believed she had something wrong with her spine and could not afford treatment. We have taken her to see our vets and she has had x rays. The x rays show that Coco has a very deformed spine in the neck and shoulder region.

Her vertebrae in this area are deformed (most likely a congenital defect). They are very small and there is also an area that narrows around her spinal chord. This causes her pain when she runs and plays. Eating is uncomfortable because of the bending required. We are feeding her on a raised bowl and she is on pain medication to try and keep her as comfortable as possible.

We are sending her x rays to a specialist to see if anything can be done to ease Coco’s pain and hopefully allow her a fuller life. At present she is comfortable and happy in foster, loves the other dogs but her play has to be monitored at all times.

Coco is also overweight which is not helping her condition, she is loosing weight and is on a controlled diet. She will be seeing physiotherapists to see if there is anything that we can do to help her and will hopefully be having some acupuncture.

All of Coco’s treatment is expensive. If you are able to donate anything towards her care we would be most grateful.

Coco is a young dog with the most wonderful nature and certainly deserves a pain free life, hopefully we will be able to help her.
